Capt. Badan Singh Ahlawat was son of Brig. Ran Singh Ahlawat of Dighal village.He was born in 1939. He was educated at Doon School Dheradun from 1950 to 1955,completing his ISC in 1955.He joined the NDA in 1956 and graduated as a commissioned officer from The IMA Dheradun. He was an outstanding boxer at the NDA and IMA and was commissioned in 1960 in 3 Para's. He won the Gulmarg championship two times while posted in Kashmir. His father was commanding the 161 Brigade in Kashmir when he was sent on a mission in March 1963. All the 5 officers and men of 3 Para died in an avalanche in March 1963 and the 23 year old officer paid the supreme sacrifice for the nation.
