Gandhinagar (Hindi:गांधीनगर, Gujarati: ગાંધીનગર) is the capital of the state of Gujarat in India.

Location

Gandhinagar is located approximately 23 km north of Ahmedabad, on the west central point of the Industrial corridor between Delhi, the political capital of India, and Mumbai, the financial capital of India. Gandhinagar, Gujarat's new capital city, lies on the west bank of the Sabarmati River, about 545 km north of Mumbai, the financial capital of India and 901 km southwest of Delhi, the political capital. The Akshardham temple is located in Gandhinagar.

History

The city Gandhinagar was planned by Chief Architect H.K. Mewada, educated at Cornell University, and his assistant Prakash M Apte.

गाँधीनगर परिचय

गाँधीनगर भारत के गुजरात प्रान्त की राजधानी है। यह भारत का दूसरा ऐसा शहर है जिसे पूरी तरह से योजनाबद्ध तरीके से बसाया गया हे। इसे 'हरित नगर' (ग्रीन सीटी) कहा जाता है। सचिवालय और मंत्रियों के निवास भी यहाँ पर हैं। महात्मा गाँधी की याद में इस शहर का नाम 'गांधीनगर' रखा गया है। यहाँ के अधिकांश लोग सरकारी एवं प्राइवेट नौकरी करते हैं। गांधीनगर अहमदाबाद शहर से 35 किलोमीटर पूर्वोत्तर में साबरमती नदी के दाएँ तट पर स्थित है। साबरमती नदी के पश्चिमी तट पर स्थित गुजरात की राजधानी गांधीनगर का नाम राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गाँधी के नाम पर रखा गया है। 649 वर्ग किलोमीटर में फैले गांधीनगर को चंडीगढ़ के बाद भारत का दूसरा नियोजित शहर माना जाता है। चंडीगढ़ को डिज़ाइन करने वाले फ्रेंच वास्तुशिल्प ली कोरबुसियन ने इस शहर को भी डिज़ाइन किया था।
