Ganga Ram Jakher
Ganga Ram Jakher (Born: 2nd May, 1950) is an academician, social worker and author from village Bisaraniya, tahsil Chohtan in Barmer district of Rajasthan. He is known for hard work, sincerity, and honesty.

Dr Ganga Ram Jakher was born in a rural peasant Jat family of Jakhar clan living in the remote village Bisarniya of Chohtan Tehsil, Barmer district (Rajasthan). In this region of erstwhile Princely Marwar State even after independence there were no schools in remote areas. So he had to get his early education in village Posal and thereafter passed class 5th from primary school of the village. From standard 6th to post-graduation (Zoology) studied at Jodhpur and did Ph D from JNV University, Jodhpur.
While pursuing higher studies, he actively participated in students' activities and was elected to the post of General Secretary of Students' Union during the session 1971-72.
Career
- From October 1978 to August 1979 served as Assistant research officer, plant protection in the Department of Agriculture, Government of Rajasthan.
- In 1979 joined University service as Assistant Professor at Jodhpur University and retired as professor in 2010.
- Head department of Zoology, JNV University, Jodhpur.
- For the first time ever, he was elected for five terms as representative of the university teachers to serve as member of the Syndicate ( Governing Council) of JNV University, Jodhpur.
- Also served as member of various important bodies of the university.
- Vice_Chancellor of Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner ( A state university)- December 2009 to December 2012. His tenure of three years as Vice Chancellor of the Bikaner university in its embryonic stage was full of achievements in academic as well in examination and administrative reforms.
Research work
- The topic of research of Dr Ganga Ram Jakher was 'Fresh water ecosystems ( Limnology) and Inland Saline lakes with special reference to Artemia culture and seed production.'
- Served as Co-director on panel of International Consortium of Salt Lake Research from 1990 to 1995.
- Also conducted work on wildlife of Thar Desert and supervised scholars who worked on Gagella, Black buck and Indian Desert fox.
- Conducted public awareness programs about water resource management and wildlife conservation.
- In connection with his academic pursuits Dr Ganga Ram Jakher visited foreign countries like Spain, Germany and France.
- Honorary fellow of nature - His career has been illustrious and studded with achievements that have been inspirational to our community.
- Commissioned as regular NCC officer. Government of India bestowed the Honorary rank of Colonel in the NCC (26th April 2011) upon Dr Ganga Ram Jakher for the duration of office of Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner.
Social Activities
- Served as President of Shri Veer Teja Mandir Educational Society, Jodhpur from 1991 to 2008. Under his dynamic leadership the society established a boys' hostel named Shri Ramnarayan Choudhary Chhatrawas opposite new campus of JNV University.
- Exicutive Manager of the Trust Seth Shri Ram Lal Sau evam shrimati Chauthi Devi krushak Samaj Educational Turst, Barmer.
- The current President of a social welfare organisation Marwar Jat Mahasabha Sansthan, Jodhpur engaged in working for education and social reforms among agriculture community specially economically and socially backward Jat youth.
Books authored
Two scientific books edited and one Marwar- Jat Samaj Shakshik evam Samajik jagriti jointly written as first author (first edition 2022).
Awards
- Jat Ratan felicitated by Mumbai Jat Samaj in 1999 by the then President Shri Dara Singh
- Jat Gaurav by Jat Mahapanchayat Pushkar in 2002.

Writing, reading and motivation for career planning and also active participation in public awareness programs.

समाज का इतिहास और पूर्वजों को जानना प्रेरक और भविष्य निर्धारक : राज्यपाल सत्यपाल मलिक
जोधपुर।11 मार्च 2022। किसी भी समाज की उन्नति, उत्थान के गौरवमय इतिहास में एक पूरी पीढ़ी का पसीने भरा श्रम एवं संघर्ष दर्ज होता है। किसान कौम के पास उस संघर्ष से आगे बढ़ने का कोई जरिया है तो वो एक ही और वो है शिक्षा। किसानों को अपने बच्चों को जहां, जैसे संभव हो शिक्षा से जोड़ना होगा और मौजूदा दौर में उन्हें गुणवत्तापूर्ण शिक्षा प्रदान करवानी होगी।
उक्त विचार मेघालय के राज्यपाल सत्यपाल मलिक ने जोधपुर के एसएन मेडिकल कॉलेज सभागार में शुक्रवार को मारवाड़ जाट महासभा संस्थान के बैनर तले पुस्तक विमोचन एवं सम्मान समारोह में व्यक्त किए। मलिक ने कहा कि किसान कौम के इतिहास में न हवेलियां हैं और न ही व्यापारिक साम्राज्य, जिसको संवार कर हैरिटेज लुक देकर व्यापारिक क्षेत्र में शीर्ष तक पहुंचा जा सकता है। किसान कौम के पास जो एकमात्र पूंजी है वह है उसका गौरवमयी इतिहास जो विपरीत परिस्थितियों में लड़ने का साहस और आगे बढ़ने के सपने सौंपता है। मलिक ने कहा कि उन सपनों की पूर्ति का सिर्फ और सिर्फ जरिया है तो शिक्षा। नई पीढी को चाहिए कि वे अपने पूर्वजों को जाने समझे और शिक्षित होकर कामयाब बनें एवं उनके गौरव में स्वयं को जोड़ें।
कार्यक्रम में राज्यपाल मलिक ने जोधपुर के प्रोफेसर गंगाराम जाखड़, चूरू के प्रोफेसर हनुमाना राम ईसराण, बाड़मेर के श्री जोगाराम सारण द्वारा लिखित कृति 'मारवाड़ जाट-समाज : शैक्षिक एवं सामाजिक जागृति' का विमोचन किया तथा समाज की चुनिंदा प्रतिभाओं को सम्मानित भी किया। कार्यक्रम के अध्यक्ष राजस्थान सरकार के वन एवं पर्यावरण मंत्री हेमाराम चौधरी ने कहा कि हमारे पूर्वजों के बारे में जानना पूरे परिवेश और समग्र संघर्ष को जानना है। पूर्व मंत्री राजेंद्र चौधरी ने कहा कि आज के युवाओं को तमाम मौजूदा प्रश्न समझने चाहिए। पूर्व मंत्री रामनारायण डूडी ने कहा कि जिनमें निर्णय क्षमता होती है उन्हें उचित मंच उचित अवसर पर स्वयं आमंत्रित करते हैं। पूर्व सांसद बद्रीराम जाखड़ ने कहा कि जिसमें जितनी शक्ति है उतनी शक्ति के साथ उसको सामाजिक उत्थान के लिए काम करना चाहिए। मारवाड़ में महिला शिक्षा जागृति की पुरोधा पूर्व मंत्री मदन कौर ने कहा कि यह समय स्त्री प्रसंग में प्रसन्न होने का है कि स्त्रियां सामाजिक जागृति में बढ़ चढ़कर हिस्सा ले रही हैं।
कार्यक्रम में राज्यपाल सत्यपाल मलिक एवं अतिथियों ने चूरू के प्रोफ़ेसर हनुमाना राम ईसराण एवं कृति के अन्य द्वय लेखकों को सम्मानित भी किया। प्रोफेसर ईसराण ने अपने उद्बोधन में इतिहास लेखन की उपादेयता व पुस्तक का समग्र विवरण प्रस्तुत करते हुए मारवाड़ में शिक्षा और समाज सुधार की ज्वाला जलाने वाले महापुरुषों से प्रेरणा लेने का आह्वान किया।
कार्यक्रम में संस्थान अध्यक्ष पूर्व कुलपति डॉ. गंगाराम जाखड़ ने स्वागत उदबोधन और संस्थान सचिव राज्य प्रशासनिक सेवा के पूर्व अधिकारी भूराराम चौधरी ने धन्यवाद ज्ञापित किया।
