Godha (गोधा)[1][2] Goda (गोदा) Godhe (गोधे) Godhi (गोधी)[3] [4] gotra Jats are found in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat. Godhi live in Uttar Pradesh. [5] Goda is a Gotra of the Anjana Jats in Gujarat. It is a branch of Chauhan.

Origin

They are remembered in Brahmāṇd Purana, in the same style. [6] They are a branch of Chauhans. Their origin is from Gonarda (गोनर्द) Raja of Kashmir. [7]

Godha (गोध) is mentioned by Panini in Ashtadhyayi under Shandikadi (शंडिकादि) (4.3.92) group.[8]

History

Dalip Singh Ahlawat Writes - भाषाभेद से यह गोधा शब्द, योद्धा शब्द का अपभ्रंश है (द्वितीय अध्याय जाट्स दी ऐनशन्ट रूलर्ज पृ० 6, लेखक बी० एस० दहिया)। यह जाटवंश है। भीष्मपर्व अध्याय 9 के अनुसार भारतवर्ष के जनपदों में यह गोधा जनपद भी था। वास्तव में यह यौधेय जनपद था। महाराज युधिष्ठिर के राजसूय यज्ञ में यौधेय राजकुमार बहुत धन लाये थे।[9]
