Hony.Lt. Mool Chand

Hony. Lt. Mool Chand , a resident of village Bhaproda near Sampla district Jhajjar, Haryana, is a Sena Medal awardee of 1965 Indo-Pak war. He belongs to the prestigious GAGAR family which was the biggest joint family (175 members) of Haryana.

During the September 1965 operation (Indo-Pak war) in Khem Kharan Kasure sector, Subedar Mool Chand was the platoon commander of Anti-tank squad. He moved from one position to another in the face of intensive enemy fire. Although he was seriously wounded during the encounter, he kept on encouraging his men and continued directing the anti-tank fire. As a result he and his team destroyed many patton tanks of pakistan. But during this operation he lost his courageous soldier Abdul Hamid. Abdul Hamid was later awarded Param Vir Chakra posthumously and Hony. Lt. Mool Chand was awraded with Sena Medal in 1965. Also, during World War II , he was awraded with Mention In Dispatch. Another medals won by him includes Burma Star, Sena Seva Medal etc.

Hony. Lt.Mool Chand is 94 years old today and lives in Nangloi, New Delhi.
