Jatri (जत्री) [1]Jatri (जत्री) Jatri (जत्रि) Jetri (जेत्री)[2] [3][4] is gotra of Jats found in India, in Bhatinda district in Punjab and in Uttar Pradesh. [5] These people were known as Jatrana at some places and Jitrana (जीतराणा) at other places.

History
They were settled around Chittorgarh in medieval periods. Albruni has written the name of Chittor as Jitaur, which is after Jitrana Jats. [6]The earlier name of Mewar was Medpat. Madra and Med are gotras found in Jats. Medpat is after Med gotra Jats. Jatri or Jatran jats moved from Chittor to various places. One group moved to Bijnor, other group to Gwalior and some to Jalesar. They founded their rule at Jartauli in Aligarh district. Later Nohwars occupied this state. Ibrahim Lodi forced the jats from Jartauli to move elsewhere at the time of chieftain Rao Ratiram. Rao Ratiram moved to Narwar. He constructed fortresses at Vajana and Bhenrai. [7]
Ram Sarup Joon[8] writes that ....Alexander invaded India in 326 BC and came upto the River Beas. After crossing the River Indus at Attock, he had to fight with a series of Jat Kingdoms. Alexander's historian Arrian writes that Jats were the bravest people he had to contest with in India......Names of tribes described above by Arrian as having fought Alexander viz., Maliha, Madrak, Malak, Kath, Yodha and Jatrak exist today as Jat gotras.
Ram Swarup Joon[9] writes about...Jatrak or Jattarana: This is also an old gotra. According to "Kautilya's Arthshastra" they fought against Alexander the Great. According to Alberuni this hilly place called Chittor (Jattaur) was the capital of the Jattrana. They have 12 villages in Delhi area. They call themselves descendents of Tur. They have about 80 villages near Bhiwani.
संक्षिप्त इतिहास
ठाकुर देशराज लिखते हैं -
इन लोगों को कहीं जतरान और कहीं जितरान बोलते हैं। अपने मघ्यकाल में ये लोग चित्तौड़ के आसपास थे। अलवरूनी ने चितौड़ का नाम जित्रौर लिखा है जो इन्हीं के कारण प्रसिद्ध रहा था। मेवाड़ का पहला नाम मेदपाट था। यहां शिव लोगों का जो कि अब जाटों में शिवि गोत्र के नाम से मशहूर हैं एक जनपद था। मद्र और मेद लोग भी जाटों में पाये जाते हैं, सम्भवतया जाट मेदों के कारण ही इस देश का नाम मेदपाट था।
जत्रि अथवा जतरान जाट चित्तौड़ से चलकर अनेक स्थानों में चले गये। कुछ बिजनौर, कुछ ग्वालियर और कुछ जलेसर की ओर फैल गए। जिला अलीगढ़ में जतरौली नामक स्थान पर उन्होंने अपना राज्य कायम किया। पीछे यह स्थान नोहवारों के हाथ आ गया। राव रतीराम नामक सरदार के समय में इब्राहीम लौदी ने नोहवारों को भी जतरौली से निकाल दिया। राव रतीराम नरबर की ओर चला गया और उसके पुत्रों ने नोह को अपने पुरोहित को दे दिया। अपने लिए वाजपा और भेनराय स्थानों पर गढ़ी बनाई। जतरौली से जत्रि लोग इधर-उधर पहले ही फेल चुके थे।
