Jand (जंद) Jund (जुंद) Jandian (जंदयान) / Jandyan (जंदियन) / Jandwal (जंदवाल) Jundian (जुंदीआं) is a Gotra of Jats found in Jammu, Punjab , Haryana, Rajasthan, Western Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh . Jand jat belongs to Suryavanshi kshatriyas. In Punjab, Sikh Jat also use this Gotra. Jand Gotra is found in some parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan also.

Origin

Origin of this Gotra Found in Amritsar Region. In Medieval Period Jand jats were Big Landlords and were the member of royal families of Amritsar , & Jammu . This Gotra is named after Jand Tree found in Punjab. It is Punjabi name of Banyan Tree . It is also believed that this Gotra is named after a Jand village which is located in Amritsar. According to Historians, Jand and Gill are from the same Jat Clan.

History

In 16th Century they fought against Mughals under the leadership of Guru Hargobind Singh Ji. After that some people accepted Sikhism. During British Era People of Jand gotra moved to different parts in North India. People with similar Surname are also found in Europe and they consider their connections with Jats . Many decades ago they went there for trade and settled down there.

जंद / जन्द / जंदियन / जंदयान / जंदवाल गोत्र जम्मू, पंजाब, हरियाणा, राजस्थान,उत्तर प्रदेश ,और मध्य प्रदेश में पाया जाता है। जन्द / जंड जाट हिंदू सूर्यवंशी क्षत्रिय हैं। पंजाब में, सिख जाट भी इस गोत्र का उपयोग करते हैं। Jand ( जन्द / जंड) गोत्र पाकिस्तान और अफगानिस्तान के कुछ हिस्सों में भी पाया जाता है।

इस गोत्र की उत्पत्ति अमृतसर क्षेत्र में हुई । मध्ययुगीन काल में जन्द जाट बड़े जमींदार थे और अमृतसर, और जम्मू के शाही परिवारों के सदस्य थे। इस गोत्र का नाम पंजाब में पाए जाने वाले जन्द वृक्ष के नाम पर रखा गया है। यह बरगद के पेड़ का पंजाबी नाम है। यह भी माना जाता है कि यह गोत्र एक जंद गाँव के नाम पर है जो अमृतसर में स्थित है। इतिहासकारों के अनुसार, जंद गोत्र और गिल गोत्र एक ही जाट वंश से हैं।

16 वीं शताब्दी में उन्होंने गुरु हरगोविंद सिंह जी के नेतृत्व में मुगलों के खिलाफ लड़ाई लड़ी। उसके बाद कुछ लोगों ने सिख धर्म स्वीकार कर लिया। ब्रिटिश युग के दौरान जन्द/जंड गोत्र के लोग उत्तर भारत के विभिन्न हिस्सों में चले गए। समान उपनाम वाले लोग यूरोप में भी पाए जाते हैं और वे जाटों के साथ अपने संबंध मानते हैं। कई दशक पहले वे व्यापार के लिए वहां गए और वहीं बस गए |
