The Harsha inscription of 961 AD tells us names of villages which were donated by nearby Chauhan rulers or chieftains from their controlled area to the temple of Harshadeva.

It mentions village Kardamā Khātā donated by Vatsa-raja, which has been identified as - Kadma Ka Bas. According to mythological beliefs, the Bas village of Kadma is believed to be in the time of about 950 BC in the time of Mahabharata period = Vedic era. It is believed that once there was a severe famine here, seeing the plight of the people, Sage Kardam did penance. Pleased with his penance, Lord Krishna had come here, the sage sought a boon from the Lord for the redress of this agony, it is believed that since then a pool of holy water has been established here. There were also seven very ancient Kadamba trees, out of which 6 are still present, the villagers tell that Lord Krishna took his seven steps here, from there the Kadamba trees were born. The age of these trees has not been estimated yet. There is also an ancient temple of Lord Shri Krishna ji here.He is worshiped by the name of Thakur ji among the local residents, on the second new moon of every Bhadrapada, a grand fair is held here, and people from far and wide come here to take a bath in the holy pool.
