Kayu (कायु) is a country mentioned in Mahabharata. Its inhabitants were called Kayavya (कायव्य). It has been identified with province of Khyber Pass.[1]

Sandhya Jain[2] mentions Kayavya (कायव्य) as a northwestern tribe in the tribute list (II.48.12).

कायु

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[3] ने लेख किया है ...कायु (AS, p.171) महाभारत सभा.2 में इस देश के निवासियों को कायव्य कहा गया है. इसका अभिज्ञान खैबर दर्रे के प्रदेश के साथ किया गया है. (दे. उपायन पर्व, अ स्टडी, डॉ मोतीचन्द्र)

Sabha Parva, Mahabharata/Book II Chapter 48 describes Kings who presented tributes to Yudhishthira.
