Kharkhoda, Sonipat
Kharkhoda (खरखोदा) is a famous & historical city of Sonipat district of Haryana. Kharkhoda is a city, Tehsil and a municipal committee in Sonipat district in the Indian state of Haryana. World's biggest automobile manufacturing facility Maruti Suzuki came up in Kharkhoda across 1000 acres of land.

History
Name of the Kharkhoda is said to be derived from Kharak meaning a stall. Another tradition connects it with Khara and Dushana, the brothers of Ravana, the king of Lanka (now Sri Lanka). In this historical site, there is a tomb of Syed Sufi. It's name also relates to a urdu word Khair Khuda which becomes Kharkhoda.
Geographics
These following 12 villages of Dahiya Khap in Kharkhoda Sonipat district derived from Khanda: Jharoth, Jharothi, Nasirpur Cholka, Sehri, Bidhlan, Nirthan, Nakloi, Kheri Dahiya, Bhatgaon, Tihar, Ratangarh and Garhi Hakikat.
Some Dahiya Jats goes from Khanda Sonipat village and settled Birdhana in Jhajjar, Dhanwapur in Gurgaon and Harsoli Alwar villages.
खांडा गांव सोनीपत में दहिया खाप के 12 गाँवो का जनक है जिसमे मुख्यतः झरोठ, झरोठी, नसीरपुर चौलका, सेहरी, बिधलान, निरथान, नक्लोई, खेड़ी दहिया, भटगांव, तिहाड़, रतनगढ़, गढ़ी हकीकत गांव शामिल हैं। अन्य जिलों के भी कुछ गांव खांडा गांव से ही निकले हैं जैसे बिरधाना (झज्जर), धनवापुर (गुड़गांव), हरसौली (अलवर)।
प्राचीन काल में राजस्थान से आकर दहिया जाट सबसे पहले बरोणा गांव के पास ठहरे। वहाँ से आकर सबसे बड़े भाई खांडा गांव की भूमि पर आबाद हुए। इसलिए खांडा गांव को खांडा बारह व दादा खांडा भी कहा जाता है।
Demographics
India census, Kharkhoda had a population of 18,758. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Kharkhoda has an average literacy rate of 64%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 71%, and female literacy is 56%. In Kharkhoda, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age. 53% of the population is Saini, 15% is Brahman, 10% is Punjabi and others are about 22%.
Administration
The town nurses a number of places of public utility of which a college, a civil veterinary hospital, a civil dispensary, a post office and police station are worth mentioning. It is an important grain market. Very soon Kharkhoda town is going to become Industrial Model Town and also a new Civil Hospital is constructed at Thana Kalan Road. Also the new roads are under construction upto the newly constructed bypass all over the town. ITI is also under constructed on bypass. Grain Market situated at Khanda Bypass.
Maruti Suzuki
On 28 August 2022 Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Maruti Suzuki's new manufacturing plant in Kharkhoda. It will be the largest automobile manufacturing plant in Asia with capacity of making 15 lac cars per year. Government of Haryana gives 900acres of HSIIDC land to Maruti Suzuki for setting up a new manufacturing unit in Kharkhoda. Maruti Suzuki is setting up Asia's biggest manufacturing plant in IMT Kharkhoda across 900 acres with an investment of 18000 crore.
