Kothar (कोठार)[1] / Kotar (कोटार)[2]Kotar (कोतार)[3] is a gotra of Jats.[4] Kotar clan is found in Afghanistan.[5]

Origin

These people get this name after Nagavanshi king of name Kuthara (कुठार).[6]

In Mahabharata

Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Mahabharata Book I Chapter 57 mentions the names of all those Nagas that fell into the fire of this snake-sacrifice. Nagas of race of Dhritarashtra included Kuthara. [7]
