Laknavaram

Laknavaram (लकनावरम्) is a lake located in Govindaraopet mandal, about 80km from Warangal, Telangana.[1][2]

History
The lake is spread over an area of 10,000 acres and holds about 2.135 tmcft of water. It irrigates over 3,500 acres of land. It was built by Kakatiya kings. It has about 13 islands in it and has a 160 metres long hanging bridge, which connects three islands. It is surrounded by a thick deciduous forest and it is a very popular tourist spot. Telangana tourism developed New accommodation at Laknavaram Lake.
The Laknavaram lake is 13 miles from Mulug and regarded as a sister to Ramappa lake being named after Sri Lakshmana the brother of Sri Rama. This lake also dates from the same period and was created by shutting up three narrow valleys with short bunds. It has a catchment area of 75 square miles and three main distributaries irrigating about 13,000 acres. [2]
लकनावरम् झील
लकनावरम (AS, p.809): एक झील है, जो मुलुग तालुका, ज़िला वारंगल, आंध्र प्रदेश में स्थित है। यह वारंगल के नरेशों के समय में बनी हुई झील है, जो रामप्पा के समान ही एक बृहत सरोवर है। जिस प्रकार रामप्पा झील राम के नाम पर है, वैसे ही लकनावरम लक्ष्मण के नाम पर प्रसिद्ध है। लकनावरम झील का जल संग्रह क्षेत्र 75 वर्ग मील है। इस झील से तीन नहरें काटी गई थीं, जिनसे तेरह सहस्र एकड़ भूमि की सिंचाई हो सकती थी। झील का निर्माण तीन संकीर्ण घाटियों को बांध द्वारा रोक कर किया गया था। [3]
