Madakhera

Madhkhera (मडखेरा) is a small village in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh. The village is of no specific importance except for a Sun Temple which is located in the west of the village.

Madhkhera literally means ‘village of temples’, and this name it got probably after the temple was constructed, however there is no definite proof of the same. The Sun Temple is the only temple of interest from archaeological point of view. There is one more temple in the village, Vindhya Vasini temple located on the top of a nearby hill.[1]

सूर्य मँदिर मडखेरा - Madkhera Sun Temple
सूर्य मँदिरों क निर्माण गुप्त काल से ही शुरू हो गया था और गुप्तवँशीय कुमार गुप्त ( 414 – 450 ई) द्वारा निर्मित मंदसौर के सूर्य मँदिर में इसकी झलक देखने को मिलती है | गुप्तकाल की समाप्ति के बाद एक लँबे अँतराल में प्रतिहार काल (821 -1000 ई) में सूर्य मँदिरों क निर्माण हुआ जो की मध्यकालीन वास्तुकला के श्रेष्ठ उदाहरण हैं और मडखेरा निर्मित सूर्य मँदिर भी उनमें से एक है ! मडखेरा मध्य प्रदेश के टीकमगढ जिले में स्थित है। टीकमगढ-ओरछा रोड पर टीकमगढ से ठीक 11 किमी पहले बावरी तिगैला से शिवराजपुर गाँव के लिए दाएँ मुडें जो कि मुख्य सङक से 4.5 किमी अँदर है ! शिवराजपुर पहुँचने पर बाएँ मुडे और 2.5 किमी चलने पर हम पहुँच जाते हैं मडखैरा ! स्थानीय इलाके में इसे खैरा मडखैरा के नाम से भी जानते हैं जिसका अर्थ होता है मँदिरों का गाँव । गाँव में सूर्य मँदिर के अलावा एक और माँ विन्ध्यवासिनी मँदिर भी है.
