Mahan (माहान)[1] Mahan (महान)[2] Mahan (महन) is a gotra of Jats found in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

History
Mahansar (महनसर): बड़वा के अनुसार यह गाँव महन जाटों के द्वारा बसाया हुआ था. ठिकानेदार से विवाद के कारण गाँव छोडकर जाना पड़ा और नवलगढ़ के पास देवगांव में जाकर बस गए.
Mator : महन जाटो द्वारा बसाए गए mator गांव में सबसे ज्यादा आबादी महन गोत्र के जाटो की है ।निकासी दिल्ली से बताई जाती है । यह गांव अलवर जिले की मुंडावर तहसील में आता है । और खैरथल कस्बे के नजदीक है।
In Mahabharata
Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Mahabharata Book I Chapter 94 mentions histories of those kings who were descended from Puru. Shloka 11 tells that Matinara had four sons of immeasurable prowess, viz., Tansu, Mahan, Atiratha, and Druhyu of immeasurable glory. (Amongst them, Tansu of great prowess became the perpetrator of Puru's line).

Aswamedha Parva, Mahabharata/Book 14 Chapter 8 mentions names of Shiva. One of them is Mahan.
