Mangar (मंगर) is a Gotra of Jats inhabiting India and Pakistan. Mangars are mainly found among Jat Sikh Gotras but Jat Hindus and Muslims also reside in both Eastern and Western Punjab. [1]

Origin

Mangars are believed to be originated from Western Pakistan.

Religion

Sikhs make up majority of the Mangar population, though Muslims and Hindus also exist.

Distribution in Punjab

In Punjab, Mangars are found in districts of Amritsar, Faridkot, Ferozepur, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Malerkotla, Nabha, Patiala and in small numbers in other districts of the state.

Distribution in other parts of India

Outside Punjab, Mangars settled in Ambala, Delhi, Gurgaon, Kangra, Karnal, Pataudi, Rohtak, Shimla and in some parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.

Distribution in Pakistan

Mangars also reside in Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Shaikhupura and Multan.
