Nauprabhranshana (नौप्रभ्रंशन) is a peak of a mountain in Himalayas known as Naubandhana in Mahabharata.

Naubandhana
Naubandhana (नौबन्धन) is the name of a mountain mentioned in relating with the origin of tribes according to the Nīlamata-purāṇa.—Bṛhadaśva gives, at first, the account of the divisions of time, the destruction of the world at the end of manvantara, the preservation of Manu and the seeds in a ship which was a form of Satī herself and was fastened by Viṣṇu to the mountain later on named as Naubandhana, the birth of the land and the lake of Satī, and the origin of various tribes from Kaśyapa.[1][2]
Naubandhana (नौबन्धन).—A peak of the Himālayas. The peak came to be known by this name on account of the following cause. Once upon a time Hiraṇyakaśipu stole the Vedas and with them hid in the bottom of the ocean. Mahāviṣṇu incarnated himself as fish to restore the Vedas. The world then was submerged in water and the maharṣis escaped in a boat attached to the horns of the Makara fish. On earth flood rose upto the peaks of the Himālayas. The Saptarṣis attached their boat to a peak of the mountain and that came to be known as Naubandhana. (nau = boat; bandha = tie). [3][4] [5]
नौप्रभ्रंशन
विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[6] ने लेख किया है ...नोप्रभ्रंशन (AS, p.510) हिमालय का एक 'श्रृंग', जिसे महाभारत में 'नौ-बंधन' कहा गया है। यह शतपथ ब्राह्मण में वर्णित 'मनोरवसर्पण' है, जहाँ मनु ने महाप्रलय के समय अपनी नाव बाँध कर शरण पाई थी। महाप्रलय की कथा तथा मानव जाति के आदि पुरुष का उसमें जीवित रह जाना अनेक प्राचीन जातियों की पुरातन ऐतिहासिक परम्पराओं में वर्णित है। बाइबिल में 'नोहा' या 'हज़रत नूह' की कथा मनु की कथा का ही एक दूसरा संस्करण मालूम होता है। भोमिकी विशारदों के मत में [p.511]: वर्तमान हिमालय के स्थान पर अति प्राचीन युग में समुद्र लहराता था। इस तथ्य से भी मनु की कथा की पुष्टि होती है। जान पड़ता है कि मानव जाति के इतिहास के उष:काल में सचमुच ही महाप्रलय की घटना घटी होगी और उसी की स्मृति संसार की अनेक प्राचीनतम सभ्य जातियों की पुरातन परम्पराओं में सुरक्षित चली आ रही है।
