Modi (मोदी) Mori (मोड़ी) is an ancient village in Bhanpura tahsil in Mandsaur district in Madhya Pradesh. It is 124 km from Mandsaur and 12 km from Bhanpura in west direction on Rampura road.

History

As per local tradition this place was considered to be the capital of king named Mordhwaj (मोरध्वज). During Parmara rule it was a big city with the name Moripattan (मोरीपत्तन). There are various statues of Jaina, Vaishnava and Shakt religions found in the area of period from 11th to 13th century. Most of the area has submerged under Gandhi Sagar Dam reservoir. At present one can see ruins of a three storey building which was probably a palace. [3]
