Om Prakash Chautala (born January 1, 1935) is the leader of the INLD (Indian National Lok Dal), a Haryana based political party in India. He was also the former Chief Minister of the state. However, in the 2005 Haryana state assembly elections the INLD lost its majority, winning just 9 out of the 90 seats compared to the Congress party's 67 seats. Chautala resigned and Bhupinder Singh Hooda became the Chief Minister of Haryana.


In the Assembly elections of October 2009, he contested from two seats (Elanabad and Uchana Kalan) and won from both. His party INLD got 31 seats in the Assembly while Congress got 40 seats. He became leader of the Opposition in Haryana Vidhan Sabha.

Chautala is the son of Chaudhary Devi Lal and Shrimati Harki Devi ji , Devi Lal a former deputy prime minister of India. He belongs to Sihag Jat Gotra.

Chaudhary Om Parkash married Smt. Sneh Lata and they have two sons and four daughters (all married). His both the sons are active in the field of social service and politics.

Dr. Ajai Singh Chautala is three time MLA of Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha, one time MP Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha each and is presently represents Dabwali constituency in Haryana Vidhan Sabha as an MLA. He is actively associated with several social and sports organisations; and is General Secretary of INLD.

The younger son of Om Parkash Chautala is Khelratana Abhai Singh who is MLA of Haryana Assembly for the second time. He evinces keen interest in the promotion of spread of education and sports and is Vice President of Indian Olympic Association.
