Om Prakash Mitharwal
Om Prakash Mitharval (ओमप्रकाश मिठारवाल) (born 15 August 1995) is an Indian sport shooter. At the 2018 ISSF World Shooting Championships, he won the gold medal in the 50 metre. He became only the second Indian to win two medals at the ongoing Commonwealth Games-2018 in Gold Coast, after winning two bronze medals.[1] He is honoured with Arjun Award-2022.

Career
Mitharval, the 22-year-old won the bronze in the 50 metre air pistol event on Wednesday, adding to the one that he won in the 10 m air pistol earlier this week. Heena Sidhu is the only other Indian athlete in Gold Coast to have won two medals.
At the International Sport Shooting World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico, Mitharval teamed up with teenage shooting sensation Manu Bhaker to win the 10 metre air pistol team gold, his first at a major international event. [2]
Hailing from Sihodi, Rajasthan, Mitharval trains at the Army Marksmanship Unit in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh. Mitharval came into the spotlight after winning the silver in the 50 metres pistol event at the nationals in December 2015.[3]
The shooter from Rajasthan then went onto win the team gold at both the senior and junior nationals. Prior to joining the army in 2013, Mitharval didn’t have a history of shooting behind him, only taking up the sport two years prior to enlistment.[4]
The youngster has credited a lot of his shooting acumen to Jitu Rai, who he beat in the 50 m air pistol event on Wednesday, and has said that Rai’s work ethic has rubbed off on him.[5]
Manu Bhaker won her second gold medal at the World Cup in the 10 meter Air Pistol mixed team event. She was paired with fellow countrymen Om Prakash Mitharwal. The pair shot a score of 476.1 points, defeating Sandra Reitz and Christian Reitz who scored 475.2.[6]
Om Prakash Mitharval won the bronze medal in the men’s 50m pistol event but the fancied Jitu Rai finished a disappointing 8th at the Commonwealth Games on Tuesday. The young Mitharval, who also won a bronze in the 10m air pistol event two days ago, shot 201.1 to finish third in the eight-man finals at Belmont Shooting Centre.[7]
After being placed sixth at the end of first round of stage 1, Mitharval jumped to the top spot with 93.7. He maintained his lead with his next two shots but Repacholi went ahead by a point after two more attempts. Mitharwal then found himself in the silver medal position with 148.3 following scores of 9.8 and 8.6, before a 10.2 and 10.0 placed him level with the home favourite. He maintained the second position as he raced to 186.3, ahead by three points over Ahmed. However, he could not continue the momentum and conceded lead in the following round with a 7.2 and 7.6, going down from gold to silver and finally settling for bronze. [8]
जीवन परिचय
ढाणी निमड़ी में जन्में ओमप्रकाश चार भाई-बहनों में सबसे छोटे हैं। ओमप्रकाश का जन्म 15 अगस्त 1995 को हुआ था। 10वीं तक की पढ़ाई गांव के ही स्कूल में की। इसके बाद 12वीं तक सीकर में पढ़ाई की। 20 दिसंबर 2014 में आर्मी में भर्ती हुए। वह अभी इंदौर के मउ में राजपूताना रेजीमेंट में हवलदार के पद हैं। उन्हें आर्मी राइफल एसोसिएशन में ले लिया गया। [9]
कॉमनवेल्थ में शूटिंग में कांस्य पदक

सीकर. कॉमनवेल्थ में शूटिंग में कांस्य जीतने वाले निमड़ी गांव के आेमप्रकाश मिठारवाल का कहना है कि यह पदक मैं देश के लोगों को समर्पित करता हूं। सीकर ने मुझे बहुत कुछ दिया है। अब मेरा पूरा फोकस 11 अप्रैल को होने वाले 50 मीटर एयर पिस्टल मैच पर है। हर हाल में गोल्ड जीतना है। इसके लिए रोज छह घंटे प्रैक्टिस कर रहे हैं।
कांस्य जीतते ही सबसे पहले किसान पिता को फोन किया: ओमप्रकाश ने बताया कि फाइनल 8 में शॉट काफी अच्छे चल रहे थे, लेकिन एक अंतिम खराब शॉट ने मुझे पीछे कर दिया। 70 देशों के क्वालीफाई राउंड में मैं 584 पॉइंट के साथ एक नंबर पर था। लगातार अच्छा खेलने के बाद फाइनल में पीछे चला जाना, बेहद मायूसी वाला होता है, लेकिन इसे मैंने चुनौती के तौर पर लिया है। 11 अप्रैल के मुकाबले में साेना जीतूंगा। पिता सज्जनसिंह किसान हैं। कांस्य जीतते ही सबसे पहले उन्हें फोन किया। उन्होंने कहा- कोई बात नहीं बेटा। अगली बार गोल्ड जरूर जीतेगा।
4 साल पहले शूटिंग गेम्स की एबीसीडी तक नहीं जानते थे: सीकर में साल 2014 में सेना भर्ती हुई थी। इसमें ओमप्रकाश का सिलेक्शन हुआ। सेना में हथियार चलाने की ट्रेनिंग में जल्द अच्छा करने लगे थे। उस वक्त तक शूटिंग को लेकर ज्यादा जानकारी नहीं थी। इसके बाद शूटिंग के बारे में जानकारी जुटाई। सेना के अफसरों को बताया। धीरे-धीरे प्रैक्टिस शुरू की। अब तक का सफर बेहद अच्छा रहा है। चार इंटरनेशनल खेल चुके हैं। इनमें दो गोल्ड, एक कांस्य हासिल किया है। जबकि तीन नेशनल खेल में12 मैडल मिले हैं।
ओमप्रकाश के कॉमनवेल्थ गेम्स में कांस्य पदक हासिल करने की पूरी कहानी 119 शब्दों में: - कॉमनवेल्थ में 50 मिनट के राउंड में 60 गोलियां चलानी होती है। इस राउंड में ओमप्रकाश को 584 पाइंट मिले थे। जबकि कॉम्पीटीटर जीतूराय के 570 पाइंट थे। 70 देशों के खिलाड़ियों में ओमप्रकाश पहले नंबर पर थे। भारत से जीतूराय व ओमप्रकाश फाइनल राउंड तक पहुंचे थे। इनमें अंतिम स्थान पर रहनेवाला बाहर हो जाता है। फिर एक और राउंड होता है। इसमें भी अंतिम स्थान वाले को बाहर कर दिया जाता है। फिर चार, तीन-तीन और दो-दो गोलियां का राउंड होता है। फाइनल में ओमप्रकाश भारत के ही जीतू और आस्ट्रेलिया के केरीबेल से पिछड़ गए। मिठारवाल को 214.3 पॉइंट मिले। जीतूराय को 235.1 और केरीबेल को 233.5 अंक मिले।
युवा निशानेबाज मिठारवाल ने दूसरा कांस्य जीता

ब्रिसबेन: भारतीय निशानेबाज ओमप्रकाश मिठारवाल ने राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों में पुरूषों की 50 मीटर पिस्टल स्पर्धा में कांस्य पदक जीता जबकि जीतू राय आठवें स्थान पर रहे। युवा मिठारवाल ने इससे पहले 10 मीटर एयर पिस्टल में भी कांस्य पदक जीता था। वह आठ निशानेबाजों के फाइनल में 201-1 का स्कोर करके तीसरे स्थान पर रहे ।
मेजबान आस्ट्रेलिया के डेनियल रेपाचोली ने 227. 2 के खेलों के रिकार्ड के साथ स्वर्ण पदक जीता जबकि बांग्लादेश के शकील अहमद ने 220 . 5 स्कोर करके रजत पदक हासिल किया। दस मीटर एयर पिस्टल में स्वर्ण जीतने वाले जीतू राय 105 . 0 स्कोर करके एलिमिनेट होने वाले पहले निशानेबाज थे।
पहले दौर के बाद छठे स्थान पर रहे मिठारवाल 93. 7 स्कोर करके शीर्ष पर पहुंच गए। उन्होंने दो शाट तक बढत कायम रखी लेकिन रेपाचोली ने उन्हें दूसरे स्थान पर धकेल दिया। इसके बाद 9 . 8, 8 . 6, 10 . 2, 10 . 0 स्कोर करके वह दूसरे स्थान पर बने रहे । बाद में 7 . 2 और 7 . 6 के खराब स्कोर का उन्हें खामियाजा भुगतना पड़ा और रजत की बजाए कांस्य पदक मिला ।
