Fuel cell is an electronic device which directly convert chemical energy into electrical energy. For Eg. H2-O2 fuel cell. Here H2 and O2 both are fuel, while Pt (Platinum) is used as electrode for oxidation of H2 in H+ at anode side and reduction of o2 in to produce water. Acid electrolyte is used to provide ionic mobility medium.

In PEM fuel cell instead of liquid electrolyte, Solid electrolyte medium i.e. Polymer Electrolyte/Exchange membrane is used. This Polymer membrane has certain advantages like:

1. Less corrosion problem.

2. Less electrolyte management problem.

3. Higer efficiency at low temperature.
