Prasthala (प्रस्थल) is mentioned in Mahabharata as a Kingdom of Trigartas. It was one of The Mahabharata Tribes fought for Kauravas in Kurukshetra War. Ramayana mentions Prasthala located in the north. The kingdom was in the west of Madradesha.

Sandhya Jain[1] mentions Prasthala (प्रस्थल) as tribe fighting for Kauravas - A Trigarta branch who fought in the Kuru army (VI.83.10); could have come from the Punjab or Sind region.

In Mahabharata

Prasthala (प्रस्थल) in Mahabharata (VI.83.10)

Bhisma Parva, Mahabharata/Book VI Chapter 83 describes the array of the Kauravas army against the Pandavas in Mahabharata War. Prasthala (प्रस्थल) is mentioned as a kingdom of Trigartas in Mahabharata (VI.83.10). [2]....Next to Vrihadvala was the brave Trigarta, the ruler of the Prasthala, accompanied by a large number of the Kambojas, and by Yavanas in thousands.

In Ramayana

Kishkindha Kanda Sarga 43 mentions that Sugriva sends troops to north in search of Sita. He gives an account of the snowy regions and provinces of northern side and asks them to search in the places of Yavana, Kuru, and Daradas etc., Prasthala (प्रस्थल) is mentioned in Ramayana (4.43.11) [3]...."There in the north, the provinces of Mlecchas, Pulindas, that way Shurashena - Prasthala - Bharata - Kuru - Madraka - Kamboja - Yavana shall be scrutinized along with the cities of Shaka and Darada, and then search in Himalayas. [4-43-11,12]

प्रस्थल

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[4] ने लेख किया है .....प्रस्थल (AS, p.589): 'प्रस्थला मद्रगान्धारा आरट्टनामतः खशा:, वसातिसिन्धुसौवीरा इति प्रायोऽतिकुत्सिताः' महाभारत कर्णपर्व 44,47. इस उद्धरण में परिगणित सभी देश, वर्तमान पंजाब (भारत तथा पाकिस्तान) तथा सीमांत प्रदेश (पाकिस्तान) तथा अफगानिस्तान के अंतर्गत हैं. इन्हें महाभारत काल में अनादर की दृष्टि से देखा जाता था जैसा कि कर्ण-पर्व के कर्णशल्य संवाद से स्पष्ट है. प्रस्थल की स्थिति मद्रदेश के पश्चिम में रही होगी.
