Dr. Ranbir Singh

Professor Ranbir Singh (प्रोफ़ेसर रणबीर सिंह) is Vice-Chancellor of the National Law University, Delhi. Earlier, he was Vice-Chancellor of the Law University at Hyderabad.

Early life

He was born at village Atta, Samalkha, Panipat District, Haryana. His gotra is Gahlan.

Education

He passed his Senior Secondary Examination from his village school at Atta. He did his Pre-enginering from Hindu college Sonepat. He then moved on to the Kurukshetra university from where he completed the best part of his education-BSC., LLB, LLM,Ph.D.

Career

He rose to the position of Professor in due course of time. He also taught at MDU University Rohtak for some time. He joined as Professor of law At Bangalore in 1978. Later he was responsible for setting up the National Law school (later renamed University) at Hyderabad, which he headed for two terms upto 2008 , when he moved to Delhi to set up another Law University viz. National Law University, Delhi, which he heads now as Vice-chancellor.The University is located in Dwarka, a sub-city in Delhi. It mainly runs five year Hons degree courses in Law.
