Varchagata (वर्चगत), also Garta (गर्त), Varcha Garta (वर्चगर्त), Varchagarbha (वर्चगर्भ), Varja (वर्ज), is name of a Country mentioned by Panini in Ashtadhyayi under Dhumadi (धूमादि) (4.2.127) group.
Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Book I Chapter 60 gives the genealogy of all the principal creatures: Varcha (वर्च) is mentioned in verse (I.60.21). ....And Soma's son is the resplendent Varchas. And Varchas begot upon his wife Manohara three sons--Sisira, and Ramana.
Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Book I Chapter 61 provides the Genealogy of the Danavas, Asuras, Kauravas, Pandavas, Gandharvas, Apsaras, Rakshasas: Varcha (वर्च) is mentioned in verse (I.61.86). .... And he who was known as the mighty Varchas, the son of Soma, became Abhimanyu of wonderful deeds, the son of Arjuna (incarnation).
