Vasundhara Raje

Vasundhara Raje (वसुंधरा राजे) is a B J P leader of note and has been twice Chief Minister of Rajasthan. She has been elected BJP MLA from Jhalrapatan Assembly constituency in 2023.

Career

She had been the Chief Minister of Rajasthan state twice 2003-2008 and 2014-2009. She is the first woman Chief Minister of Rajasthan. She remained Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan state assembly for a number of years.

Earlier, She has been a Member of Parliment in 9th Lok Sabha (1989-91), 10th Lok Sabha (1991-96), 11th Lok Sabha (1996-98), 12th Lok Sabha (1998-99) and 13th Lok Sabha (1999-2003).

Personal life

Vasundhara Raje

Vasundhara Raje was born on 8 March 1953 in Mumbai. She is daughter of Vijayaraje Scindia and Jivajirao Scindia, Maharaja of Gwalior, members of the prominent Scindia royal Maratha family.

Her marriage

Vasundhara Raje married Hemant Singh, of the ex-royal Dholpur family, on 17 November 1972, but the couple separated a year later. However she has been claiming her relationship with Dholpur Jat royal dynasty during her election campaigns. Her son Dushyant Singh was elected to the Lok Sabha from her former constituency, Jhalawar in 2009. He has been renominated as BJP candidate for the second time now.

Awards

In 2007, she was awarded "Women Together Award", by the United Nations Organization, for her efforts to assist women in self-empowerment.
