Sonasar (सोनासर) is a village in tehsil Jhunjhunu of Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan.

Location

It is situated at a distance of 10 km from Jhunjhunu in the north direction. This is a well-connected village. Area of the village is 18000 bighas. There are two temples and one of them is of Gogaji.

The founders

It was founded by Bhadia clan.

Origin

Sonasar village was founded by Sona Ram Bhadia in year 1616 who gave the name Sonasar to the village.

History

It was informed by Ch. Ranmal Singh Dorwal, Ex.M.L.A. that Sardar Harkishan Singh Surjeet who belongs to Basera gotra was originally from Sonasar village. His forefathers were resident of Sonasar village. It is the work of reasearch on Saradar Surjeet who was the King Maker of Govt. 2 times & also main person in Jat OBC declaration.

यह सीकर के पूर्व विधायक चौधरी रणमल सिंह द्वारा अवगत कराया गया था कि मार्क्सवादी नेता स्व. सरदार हरकिशन सिंह सुरजीत के वंशज बसेरा गोत्र के जाट हैं और कई पीढ़ी पूर्व झुञ्झूनु से उत्तर में बसे गाँव सोनासर से पंजाब गए थे अब यह शोध का विषय है कि ऐसा कब हुआ वैसे 1999 में राजस्थान के जाटों को केंद्र से मिले आरक्षण को दिलाने में 2 बार केंद्र में सरकार बनवाने में किगमेकर की भूमिका निभाने वाले सरदार सुरजीत सिंह का अमूल्य योगदान है I

Population

The population of the village is about 4400. There are 700 families residing in the village out of them 400 families are of Jats. The biggest gotra of Jats in the village is Basera with 100 families. The other Jat Gotras residing in the village with number of families are given above.

Notable persons from the village

  • Harfool Singh Mahala of the village has served in BSF and was of international fame in horse riding.
