Subedar Basti Ram was the first Indian to get Indian Order of Merit award in 1839.

सूबेदार बस्ती राम - पहले भारतीय जिनको सन् 1839 में इण्डियन आर्डर आफ मैरिट (आई.ओ.एम.) बहादुरी का पदक मिला।
