Khetri (खेतड़ी) is a town and tahsil in Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan.

Founder

Khet Singh Nirwan founded it about 500 years back.[1]

History

Khet Singh Nirwan founded it about 500 years back. About VS 1802 to 1828 Khetri came under the rule of Shekhawats. Thakur Bhopal Singh constructed a Fort on the hill in VS 1812 which is known as Bhopalgarh. Swami Vivekanand had visited Khetri during the Jagir of Thakur Ajit Singh, who assisted Swami Vivekanand to go to America. [2]

There are number of historical places around Khetri which include: Bawai, Papurana, Kharkhara, Jasrapur etc. [3]
