Tongpal village is located in Chhindgarh tehsil of Dakshin Bastar Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh, India. It is situated 30km away from sub-district headquarter Chhindgarh (tehsildar office) and 110km away from district headquarter Dantewada. As per 2009 stats, Tongpal village is also a gram panchayat. Author (Laxman Burdak) visited this village several times and mentioned in his diary of Oct/Nov 1982:
19.10.1982: Darbha – Tongpal 8-9.30 hrs by bus, Tongpal – Bengpal 9.30 to 12 hrs on foot 12.5 km. Inspected Tahakawada – Bispur Road work. Returned 14.30-17 hrs on foot and then to Darbha by govt vehicle.
18.11.1982: Darbha – Tongpal 20 km 7-8 hrs conducted inquiry of Mahavir Prasad Tewari etc and back by bus.
25.11.1982: Darbha – Tongpal 7-8 hrs by truck 20 km then to Marjum 11 km on foot reached Marjum at 12.30 hrs. Took statements of villagers regarding complaint
