Location

According to Census 2011 information the location code or village code of Tongpal village is 450561. Tongpal village is located in Chhindgarh tehsil of Dakshin Bastar Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh, India. It is situated 30km away from sub-district headquarter Chhindgarh (tehsildar office) and 110km away from district headquarter Dantewada. As per 2009 stats, Tongpal village is also a gram panchayat. The total geographical area of village is 376.06 hectares. [1]

Author (Laxman Burdak) visited this village several times and mentioned in his diary of Oct/Nov 1982:

19.10.1982: DarbhaTongpal 8-9.30 hrs by bus, TongpalBengpal 9.30 to 12 hrs on foot 12.5 km. Inspected TahakawadaBispur Road work. Returned 14.30-17 hrs on foot and then to Darbha by govt vehicle.

18.11.1982: DarbhaTongpal 20 km 7-8 hrs conducted inquiry of Mahavir Prasad Tewari etc and back by bus.

25.11.1982: DarbhaTongpal 7-8 hrs by truck 20 km then to Marjum 11 km on foot reached Marjum at 12.30 hrs. Took statements of villagers regarding complaint
