Kızılada

Kızılada , anciently Lagusa, is a Turkish island in the Mediterranean Sea situated in the Fethiye Bay, Fethiye district in Muğla Province, southwestern Turkey.
Location
It is 6.4 km off the coast of Fethiye district in Muğla Province in southwestern Turkey .[1]

Mention by Pliny
Pliny[4] mentions.... The river Lagoüs runs from the Cathæan14 mountains, and into it flows the Opharus. Upon it are the tribes of the Cauthadæ, and the Opharitæ.
14 He may possibly allude to a range of mountains in the Punjab and the vicinity of the modern Lahore, by his reference to the Cathei, who are supposed to have been the ancient inhabitants of that district. The localities of the various races here mentioned are involved in great obscurity.
History
Tourism
The island hosts also the 19-century Kızılada Lighthouse on its southern point,[5] which was redeveloped into a seafood restaurant in 2007 and a hostel with nine rooms in 2008.[6] Kızılada is a popular stopover for boat tours around Fethiye.[7]
