Mehra (मेहरा)/Mahra (महरा)[1] Mahra (माहरा) is gotra of Jats found in New Delhi and Jaipur districts in India. [2] Found in Pakistan.

History

Distribution in Pakistan

Mahra - The Mahra claim descent from a Mughal nobleman. They are a Saraiki-speaking Jat clan found mainly in Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Muzaffargarh and Layyah districts.

According to 1911 census Mahra were principal Muslim Jat clan in districts:[3]

  • Jhang District in Pakistan had Muslim Jat clan Mahra population 597.
  • Multan District in Pakistan had Mahran population 673 and Mahre population 1,018.
