Mohana (मोहन) is a country mentioned in Mahabharata (3-255-10) subjugated by Karna during his victory march.

Mohana is a Muslim Jat clan found in Pakistan.

Distribution in Pakistan: According to 1911 census the Mohana were the principal Muslim Jat clan in Dera Ghazi Khan District with population of Mohana (663) . [1]

History

In Mahabharata

Mohana (मोहन) in Mahabharata (3-255-10)

Vana Parva, Mahabharata/Book III Chapter 255 describes Karna's victory march and countries subjugated. Mohana (मोहन) is mentioned in Mahabharata (3-255-10). [2]....Having (thus) conquered the eastern quarter Karna then presented himself before Vatsabhumi (वत्सभूमि) (3-255-9a). And having taken Batsa-bhumi (3-255-10a), he reduced Kevala (केवल) (3-255-10a), and Mrittikavati (मृत्तिकावती) (3-255-10a), and Mohana (मोहन) (3-255-10b) and Pattana (पत्तन) (3-255-10b), and Tripuri (त्रिपुरी) (3-255-10b), and Kosala (कोसला) (3-255-10b),--and compelled all these to pay tribute.

मोहन

Mohana मोहन (AS, p.766): 'वत्सभूमिं विनिर्जित्य केवलां मृत्तिकावतीम्, मोहनं पत्तनं चैव त्रिपुरीं कोसलां तथा' महाभारत वन पर्व 254,10. मोहन को कर्ण ने अपनी दिग्विजय यात्रा के प्रसंग में जीता था. प्रसंग से यह नगर त्रिपुरी (जिला जबलपुर, मध्य प्रदेश) के निकट स्थित जान पड़ता है.[3]
