Raghvinder Malik (Raghu) - Born on 23rd Oct, 1952 in village Riwada of district Sonipat of Haryana, but a resident of Rohtak. Known as Raghu in Art and Cultural section of Haryana, he is one of the beginners of Haryanavi Art and the First JAT who showed guts to make first Haryanvi Film BAHURANI in 1981. He was the Vice President of HARYANA CHALCHITRA VIKAS SAHKARI SAMITI, which Produced the first Haryanvi Film Bahurani. He acted in this film as the main villain “TEJA” whose one dialogue became very famous - JAB TEJA MAI TEJI AAWAI To USNAI KOI NAHI ROK SAKTA. For this role he won the award of BEST ACTOR as VILLAIN from North India Film producers Association in 1981. Later on he also acted in films like SANJHI with Om Puri, Sachin, Sadashiv Amrapurkar and Sumitra Hooda, CHHORA JAT KA & PHOOL BADAN of Chandrawal Fame Usha Sharma. He was the Pioneer among JATS towards Cinema when majority of JATS even hesitated to watch CINEMA.
Raghu hails from a simple middle class JAT family and without having any background in similar field he used his foresight to enter in the same and proved his mettle. He was one of the luckiest Haryanavis who got the chance to Act as main lead Actor under one of the famous Art Cinema Director of the country Shyam Benegal in his Docu-Drama films KRISHI PANDIT and CHAMTKAR in 1978. Raghu may not have tried or earned big name in Bollywood but its fact that his guts and he himself personally inspired so many youngsters form Haryana and JATs towards Artistic field. His youngest brother Harvinder Malik, a Producer- Director in Bollywood and in Haryana as well, is one of the many. Raghu, a true promoter of Haryanavi Culture, is also known for his large collection of Haryanavi Art and Antiques Name as Virasat. He has exhibited these on many different occasions among different parts of Haryana and the whole country including APNA UTSAV 1989 in Mumbai. His beautiful collection VIRASAT became inspiration for Kurukshetra University and they started a Museum name as DHAROHAR.
