History

Author (Laxman Burdak) mentioned the village in his diary of 22.12.1982:

22.12.1982: DarbhaKoleng (कोलेंग) with SDO Kanger RN Mishra on Jeep MPZ-7484, 30 km by forest road, 12-14 hrs. Inspected the dense and rich forest enroute. There is no single habitation in 30 km patch. Left the Jeep in Forest Rest House Koleng and went from Koleng to Chhindgur village on foot about 4km and came back after inspection of forest. Night halt at Koleng. Discussed problems with tribal villagers. Villagers arranged camp fire and dance in the night by young tribal ladies. Ladies sing song while dancing in circle around fire. Though the tribal men and women were almost without clothes but I found them tension free and happiest persons on the earth. One tribal had a wooden implement to kill rats. Its design impressed me so I purchased it from the villager. I kept this tool in my drawing room. While resting in forest inspection hut we could see a nearby hill called chandipahar, which according to villagers has silver deposits.
