Location

According to Census 2011 information the location code or village code of Tareta village is 008457. Tareta village is located in Nurpur tehsil of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh, India. It is situated 68km away from district headquarter Nurpur. Nurpur is the sub-district headquarter of Tareta village. As per 2009 stats, Chhatroli is the gram panchayat of Tareta village. The total geographical area of village is 97.59 hectares.[1]

Origin

History

Dr Naval Viyogi[2] writes....Most probably Nagas moved from Kashmir valley and settled in different valleys of Himachal Pradesh. Still today these Nagas can be Seen in numerous temples and heard in legends throughout the modern province of Himachal Pradesh.

There is also another Naga in Chamba state called Indru Naga. This is the same as Nahusha whose story is told in the Mahabharata. Indru Naga is worshiped at several paces : at Kuārsi on the road leading to Dharmasala, at Samra in Ranhun kothi, at Chanota and Trehta. There is also another temple of Indru Naga at Kanhiarā in Kangra. [3]

Tareta has a total population of 460 peoples, out of which male population is 242 while female population is 218. Literacy rate of tareta village is 77.39% out of which 80.17% males and 74.31% females are literate. There are about 97 houses in tareta village. Pincode of tareta village locality is 176204. Nurpur is nearest town to tareta village for all major economic activities.[4]
