Gabar

Gabar (गबर) or Gaawar (गावर) or Gawar (गावर) is a gotra of Jats. Gawar (गावर) has started from word Gawhar. There is mention of a republic of name Gawhar in Mahabharata period. ^[1]

They are mentioned in the Markandeya Purana as Gabalah. ^[2] Gabar of Zabar in Persian means high or superior. ^[3]

Distribution

Gavar Khap has 104 villages in Mathura district.^[4]
