Shalv (शाल्व) Shalva (शाल्व) is gotra of Jats. This gotra originated from place name Solnagar, capital of Samudra Kukshi (कुक्षी). [1]
The Salvas were a branch of the Madras and were ruling at Sialkot. We know that the Madras were Vahikas and Jartas. Since according to grammatical illustration of Chandra-gomin the Jarta defeated the Huns, which means Skanda Gupta defeated the Huns. Hence Jartas are Jats. [2]
