Kadu (कादू)[1] Karu (कड़ू) is a gotra of Jats.[2]


Its early name was Kada in persian language which means poweful. [3]


Rail Inscriptions — S. W. Quadrant of Bharhut gives us following information:

56. Kadāya Yakhiya dānam. = " Gift of Kada Yakshi." [4]

H.A. Rose[5] writes that Raja Rasalu of Punjab folklore had by a paramour of the scavenger class four sons, Seo, Teo, Gheo, and Karu, from whom are respectively descended the Sials, Tiwanas, Ghebas, and Karrals.
