Also known as Shabad Markanda is in Haryana on G T Road between Ambala and Kurukshetra.

History

Angadia (अंगदीया) is a place mentioned in Ramayana. It was capital of Karupatha. Anand Ram Barua has identified Angadia with Shahabad in Rampur District of Uttar Pradesh.[1]

Shahabad has a very famous temple Mahakal Shiv Mandir. Shahabad is a place of nawabs. Shahabad is named after first nawab of Rampur Hamid Ali Shah. Shahabad is also famous for its heritage of old palace made by nawab rampur in the 18th century, which is also known as Kothi. Shahabad has mixed population. Mainly Hindus and Muslim. Shahabad has town area.

अंगदीया

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[2] ने लेख किया है ...अंगदीया (AS, p.3) वाल्मीकि-रामायण के अनुसार कारुपथ की राजधानी थी-- 'अंगदीयापुरी रभ्याप्यंगदस्य निवेशिता, रमणीया सुगुप्ता च रामेणाक्लिष्टकर्मणा'। (उत्तर 102, 8) यह नगरी लक्ष्मण के पुत्र अंगद के नाम पर कारुपथ नामक देश में बसाई गई थी। आनंदराम बरुआ के मत में वर्तमान शाहाबाद (उत्तर प्रदेश) अंगदीया नगरी के स्थान पर बसा है।
