Chebuk (चेबुक) Chabuk (चाबुक) Chavuk (चावुक) Chevku (चेवकु) Chawra (चावड़ा) Chawda (चावड़ा) is gotra of Jats. During Buddhist rule there was a struggle between Brahmanas and Jats. Jats had beaten Brahmans with Chabuk hence these people were known as Chabuk. Pulinda, China, Hunas mention about Chivuka vansha. At some time they were the rulers of Pisawa. It is said that Chabuk word is derived from Chapotkata.[1] Pargitar in his Markandeya Purana translation notes a people called Chibuka of Chivuka in the north of India.
