Kharta Ram Jakhar

Chaudhari Kharta Ram Jakhar (चौधरी खरताराम जाखड़), born in year 1925 , is a freedom fighter. He was born at village Bhaniyana (भणियाणा), in Pokaran tehsil of Jaisalmer district in Rajasthan. His father's name was Shri Revidan Ram Jakhar. His father died at the age of two years.

He has been the Sarpanch of the village since Independence. He came in contact with Baldev Ram Mirdha in 1939 and joined Indian National Congress. He is a freedom fighter and a devoted social worker. He stopped paying taxes to the Jagirdars since 1943 in villages Bhaniyana and Ratadia. Both these villages are Jat dominated. He has contributed maximum for the wealth of the village. Looking to his devotion and social services he was awarded ‘Jat Sri’ title in the Pushkar Jat Sammelan.
