Shabala (शबल), Shavala (शावल) is name of a place mentioned by Panini in Ashtadhyayi under Krishashvadi (कृशाश्वादि) (4.2.80.2) group. [3]

In Mahabharata

Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Mahabharata Book I Chapter 35 mentions the names of the principal Nagas. Shabala is mentioned in verse (शबल)(I.35.7).[4].... The Nagas Nila, Anila, Kalmasha, Savala, Aryaka, Shala, Potaka,....
