Kasya

Kasya (कास्या) Kashya (काश्य) Kashia (काशिया) Kasyan (कास्यण) is gotra of Jats. They were Suryavansh people, who ruled in Kashi. When they lost their kingdom of Kashi to the Magadha, moved from there to else where. Since they had com from Kashi hence known as Kashya or Kashiwat.

Bhisma Parva in Sanskrit mentions about Kashya clan in shlokas 38 and 40 along with many other ancient Jat clans as under:

शूरसेनाः कलिङ्गाशबॊधा मौकास तदैव च
मत्स्याः सुकुट्यः सौबल्याः कुन्तलाः काशिकॊशलाः ।।38।।
पाञ्चालाः कौशिकाश चैव एकपृष्ठा युगं धराः
सौधा मद्रा भुजिङ्गाशकाशयॊ ऽपरकाशयः ।।40।।

In the Jat clans as described by Megasthenes, Kasya is mentioned as under: From the chain of Emodus are the Isari (Isram), Cosyri (Kasya), Izgi (Igia).
