Sulkhania

Sulkhania or Sulkhaniya (सुलखनिया) is a village in Ratangarh tehsil[1] of Churu district located in west direction at a distance of about 15 km from Fatehpur, Sikar(Rajasthan). The village was founded by a saint around 750 years back and named it Sulakhania due to good natural qualities of the land. Sulakhania is a sanskrit word meaning ‘with good symptoms’. It was first inhabited by Punia Jats. Temples were built in the village by saint named Lalguru around 200 years back.

Total number of families in village is about 300. Jat gotras in village with number of families are: Dahiya (40), Burdak (20), Punia (15), Kaswan (15), Bhadial (10), Bijarnia (10), Jhuria (10), Khalia (5), Muhal (3), Takaria (3), Dhaka (3), Bhinchar (1).

Other castes living in village are Balai (40), Rajput - Parihar (10), Dhadhi (30), Kaimkhani (20), Naik (20), Brahman (1).

Sulkhania is known for Sulkhania variety of Bajra grown in Sulkhania village only.
