Nandal

Nandal (नांदल) Nandar (नांदर) Nander (नांदर) Bohariye (बोहरिये ) is a Jat clan, found in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, India. They are of Middle Eastern descent, specifically Iranian, or Persian.

Mahabharata Shalya Parva mentions names of combatants armed with diverse weapons and clad in diverse kinds of robes and ornaments, All of them came to the ceremony for investing Kartikeya with the status of generalissimo. Shalya Parva in Sanskrit mentions in shloka 63 Nandal along with Hans as under:

हंसजः पङ्कदिग्धाङ्गः समुद्रॊन्माथनश च ह

रणॊत्कटः परहासश च शवेतशीर्षश च नन्दकः ।। 63 ।।

Distribution in Haryana

Nandal's are generally present near Panipat, specially in Dahar, khukhrana. Rohtak, specially Bohar Village. In Rohtak, there is even a village named Nandal with sirname Nandal near Lakhan Majra. Even though the majority of the caste live in Haryana and Rajasthan, a few selected families live in North America or Europe. Nandal is a prominent Khaap or gotra of Jats in Haryana. Mostly Nandals are spreads over Rohtak, Sonipat,Panipat, Jhajjar, Kurukshetra and Kaithal districts.
