Tangal (तंगल) Tangana (तंगण) Tangar (तंगड़) Tangar (तांगर) Tangal (तांगल) Taldu (तलदू) is a gotra of Jats. They are mentioned as Tangana (तंगण) in the Puranas. The Markendeya Purana and the Vayu Purana mention them. Mahabharata Sabha Parva mentioned the Tangana and Partangana i.e. the nearest and farther sections of these people. [1] Dilip Singh Ahlawat has mention it as one of the ruling Jat clans in Central Asia. [2]

They have been mentioned in Mahabharata Bhisma Parva in shloka 63 as under:

हृषीविथर्भाः कान्तीकास तङ्गणाः परतङ्गणाः
उत्तराश चापरे मलेच्छा जना भरतसत्तम || 63 ||

Tanganas have been mentioned in Mahabharata in Kurukshetra War Day-2 fighting for Pandavas.
