History

The Puranic texts mention the janapada Hamsamarga in Northern and Himalayan region and Sarvaga (Himalayan only) in Matsya Purana Chapter 14.[5]

In the history of Vijayvargiya community we find mention that their ancestral person was Dhanapala, minister of Khanga Chauhan, Maharaja of Khandela. Dhanapala had four sons:Bija, Mahesh, Khandu and Sunda. These four persons were originators of four clans:

In Mahabharata

Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Mahabharata Book I Chapter 95 mentions Sarvaga (सर्वग) son of Bhima in verse (I.90.84). ...."Bhima also obtaining for a wife Valandhara, the daughter of the king of Kasi, offered his own prowess as dower and begat upon her a son named Sarvaga.[8]
