Gramin Mahila Shikshan Sansthan Sikar

Gramin Mahila Shikshan Sansthan Sikar (ग्रामीण महिला शिक्षण संस्थान सीकर) is an Educational Institution established to impart education to girls of rural area in Rajasthan. It is managed by a Society. The College is housed in a magnificent building raised during the years 1999-2002 at a cost of about Rs. one crore.

Location

The Society has its own campus at Sukh Veer Singh Batar Marg (Nawalgarh Road), 3 Kms. north of Sikar, spread in an area of 7.45 hectares. Its rural location is quiet, peaceful and ideal for academic purposes. The campus land was allocated to the Society as a gift by the State Government. The town of Sikar is situated on National Highway No. 11 between Jaipur and Bikaner and is well connected with rail and road.

School Hostel

GMSS has a 3 storey hostel block for its school students. The block is operational since July, 1992 and is well equipped and well furnished. It can accommodate 320 boarders. It had 20 boarders only on rolls in July1992.

College Hostel

Construction of a 3 storey hostel complex with an intake capacity of 450 students is in progress since September, 2003. The north & south wings of the first and second floors were opened for residence in August, 2004 and July, 2005 respectively. The hostel has a separate wing for the post graduate students.

ग्रामीण महिला शिक्षण संस्थान

रणमल सिंह[1] लिखते हैं कि सीकर जिले में बालिका शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में निरंतर सहयोग देना मेरा उद्देश्य रहा, परंतु सीकर शहर में दूरस्थ ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों की लड़कियों के अध्ययन की व्यवस्था एवं आवास की व्यवस्था की सदैव कमी रही। वर्ष 1986 में सुखवीर सिंह बाटड़ के साथ मिलकर ग्रामीण महिला शिक्षण संस्थान की स्थापना करने में मैं संस्थापक सदस्य रहा। श्रीमति कमला बेनीवाल तत्कालीन राजस्व मंत्री, राजस्थान सरकार के सहयोग से भूमि आवंटन शिवसिंहपुरा में करवाया गया। इस संस्थान के लिए भूमि आवंटन के पश्चात भवन निर्माण हेतु राशि चंदे के रूप में एकत्र करना बड़ी चुनौती थी। प्रारम्भ में 1100 रुपये प्रति सदस्य चंदा लेने एवं 100 सदस्य बनाने का लक्ष्य लेकर आगे बढ़े। चैनसिंह आर्य, लक्ष्मण सिंह सुंडा एवं सूरजमल ठेकेदार की दृढ़-निश्चयी, ईमानदार एवं स्वच्छ छवि के कारण यह संस्थान उत्तरोत्तर विकास की ओर अग्रसर हुई। आज यहाँ न केवल दो छात्रावास हैं अपितु सीनियर सेकंडरी स्कूल एवं पी. जी. कालेज भी संचालित हैं। बालिका शिक्षा में आज राजस्थान में झुंझुनूं के बाद सीकर जिले का नाम है। कालेज व्याख्याता, अध्यापक ही नहीं आई.ए.एस./आई.पी.एस./आई.आर.सएस. आदि अखिल भारतीय सेवाओं में भी सीकर की लड़कियां चयनित होकर आगे आ रही हैं।
