Madhur (मधुर) Madhuria (मधुरिया) Mithe (मीठे) Meethe (मीठे) is gotra of Jats. They originated from Mathura. Mathura has been mentioned as Madhura in Mahabharata. They behaved as a sweet poison for the enemies so they were called Mithe meaning sweet. [1] They have been mentioned as Madhura in Mahabharata Shalya Parva in shloka 66 as under:

तुहनश च तुहानश च चित्रथेवश च वीर्यवान
मधुरः सुप्रसाथश च किरीटी च महाबलः ।। 66 ।।
